Interesting Facts and History

The Porsche 356 went into production (Stuttgart, Germany) in 1949. With a 1.1 litre engine, great aerodynamics and 40HP, this car could reach 140kph. The last 356 rolled of the production line in April of 1965 marking over 81,000 sold.

Amazingly, the eventual replacement for the 356, the 911 would surpass its predecessor in sales, longevity and glory. It would also be so fanatically cherished by its owners that Porsche has not replaced it to this day.

Almost immediately after it went on sale in September 1964 (as a 1965 model) the 911 established itself as an icon of '60s cool. Then it segued gracefully into being an icon of '70s performance, then an icon of sophistication and affluence in the '80s, then an icon of athleticism and power in the '90s and is now simply an icon of all that's right with Germany and automobiles.

Germany's Best has been repairing quality German cars for over 25 years. We provide comprehensive service and repair on Porsche, BMW, MINI, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen and Smart Car.

Our team of mechanics treats the customer and the customer’s German car with great attention to detail. If the customer is in a bind for time, we always do our best to get the job done as soon as possible - to get the customer in and the car out in a timely manner. The job is done right with the right parts by qualified mechanics. All Germany’s Best mechanics are certified ASE or dealer-trained. Every mechanic has at least 15 years experience and is a master technician. We are located in wonderful Rockridge and are conveniently near the Rockridge Bart Station.
